Dark Sounds For Dark Souls - 18 Feb - Berlin

DIENSTbar presents

B*Tong
Chris Sigdell is an experimental electronic musician. He developed a soft spot for early industrial textures and pioneering ambient soundscapes while cutting his teeth in cult industrial band NID (1995-2005). A mysterious and shadowy figure he has ended up assembling sounds of such chilling creepiness that it makes Aphex Twin’s Selected Ambient Works Vol. 2 sound like a collection of sugar-coated lullabies. The sound of b°tong feels a lot like an agonizingly slow crawl through a dark tunnel where the dim light at the other end never gets closer. b°tong builds an interesting body of work that moves in various directions at the same time. From dealings with ambient and isolationism on one hand and experimental music, ranging from the soft microsound end to the more engaging noise end, in a clever combination of ideas. Since 2005 he is travelling around club-land to play concerts and to appear on electronic and industrial festivals - a.o. Ausklang, Sinus Series, Shift, Lab 30. A number of tours have led him through Europe, Russia, Canada and the U.S.A.

Darkrad
The project Darkrad was founded in 2008 by a famous figure on Moscow underground scene DJ JanaDark. Being the only member she realizes her deepest feelings and thoughts in it. Experiments with voice, gloomy electronic beats and mysterious fragile melodies - all this is Darkrad. In the name of the project the word "Windrad" is used, which in German means "Windmill". The "Darkrad" is a windmill, which blades capture the hidden energies of a human's soul and transform them into the dark soundscapes. The live performance of Darkrad is an ocean of feelings from the sombre corners of the subconsciousness, which doesn't supress and turn off the emotions, but sharpen them to a sometimes frightening peak.

Feine Trinkers Bei Pinkels Daheim
They are from Bremen and Lörrach on the German coasts, and have toured everything from The Netherlands to Switzerland and Russia extensively over the last 2 decades. In the last 2 decades, they released unique vinyl CD and cassettes in multiple editions, usually personalised and with personalised hand-painted artwork. Every show of Feine Trinkers bei Pinkels is an experience for itself - it's timeless, it's a feast for the ears, and it's such a pleasure to see them doing all the work on stage when you just lean back staring at them, with their aural earbuds tickling your eardrums. Now, Yesterday or Tomorrow, and why do they have such an attention to detail - that's the question you will ask yourself.

Hatz
Autodidact since the beginning of the nineties. When he started playing guitar first in "parasol", later with "Bolz`n". The soloproject hATZ was founded in january 2008. Unexperienced in drum computer programming it took some time to find out how to do it. that`s why hATZ spent the summer of 2008 on working in the rehearsal room, struggling with the not-human drummer at the maximum of volume. The result was quite satisfying and so he went on a tour with his mates from HBD that led hATZ through switzerland, italy and germany. His shows are really worth seeing it. Not only does he blast away the audience with guitar and beats, all this happens in complete darkness, except the light of one tiny LED fixed on the guitar bridge showing only the fast moving fingers on the strings.

Rovar17
The phenomenon of Rovar17 (Insect17 in English) was born 31st of august 2002, in the workroom of Kálmán Pongrácz. Levente Bod joined the band three days after, and they worked jointly through the end of 2004. They together created the albums Horsehead Nebula, Anything Else The Madness and English Letter with audio collage technique. Now the Rovar17 has been Kálmán Pongrácz's solo project, but different kinds of collaboration often occur with musicians, visual artists, performers and theater: Krist_K, Fullogic, Enikő Buday, Lord Medúza, Attila Dóra, Maja, Radikális Szabadidő Theater, Emese aka Oscilla, PLE, Amimal Machine and the Finita La Comedia Art Group. This act has already seen more than 200 concerts and performances, and has played all across Hungary, in Serbia, Poland, Belarus, Germany, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, France, Switzerland, Spain, Czech Republic, United States of America, Mexico, and Italy.
